Toyota's Prius Roller Coaster

Toyota Turns Prius Into A Roller Coaster Cart

Toyota, along with engineering design group Deeplocal, recently produced the first ever Prius roller coaster cart. The project was part of the Ideas for Good series launched by Toyota. The team created a custom-designed coaster cart using a Prius engine, a wiring harness, batteries and the Toyota designed Hybrid Synergy Drive System; and pushed it down a 70 foot in-house roller coaster track. The cart didn't quite leave the orbit in terms of speed, reaching approx. 15 mph after a 10ft drop, however, it was able to generate 6000 watts of power. The power generated was shown by a string of LED lights attached to cart that lit up once the power was created.

Check out the video for more on the experiment:

Although this was more of an experiment than a marketing gimmick...it shows that thinking outside of the box can not only break boundaries for your brand, it can also be a great way to promote it. Hopefully, Toyota and other companies will use this technology to bring cleaner and renewable sources not only to theme parks, but other areas of our lives.
