To help re-ignite the debate on using nuclear weapons, the Australian Red Cross has launcedh a new Social Media explosion campaign. The Red Cross has asked it's campaign supported for their permission to use their Facebook and Twitter accounts to send a one-time message at 9am on November 14. The message would be sent to all their friends and followers creating a kind of one time bombardment or explosion of communication. The number of supporters reached approx. 300,000 in the hopes to increase that number after the explosion.
The campaign was supported by a website, where people could sign up for the social explosion, vote on the issue of nuclear weapons, hear stories from survivors, and see interactive simulations of the effects of the weapons using Google maps.
