KarmaTech: Tech-Savvy Shoes
Can your shoes update your Facebook status, get you a discount at your local eatery, or put your picture on Flickr? Check out the new social media concept that is activated by your shoe!
WeSC Karmatech from Pier Madonia on Vimeo.
Swedish agency, Hyper Island, has placed an RFID (radio frequency identification) tag in a shoe for their client WeSC. The KarmaTech shoe can be placed on a reader to update the wearer's status on Facebook and Twitter or launch photos and videos on You Tube and Flickr. You can even add friends to your Facebook profile if you and your new buddy share the mat. If the technology works and catches on, this could go beyond social media sites: special entry to events, VIP access to free products...the sky is the limit.
