The Alamo, or the Cube statue at Astor Place in NYC has a new look this week. Thanks to Olek, a brooklyn based artist, provided a crocheted cover for the cube. The artist has also been known for crocheting the Wall Street Bull as a Christmas Gift and tribute to the bull creator. Olek also crocheted a bike last year for ABC No Rio's art space in the Lower East Side.
I personally love the work. It's a stop you in your tracks technique with a soft and artsy feel. I am hoping to make it over to Astor Place to see this before someone takes it down. Olek's crochet bull design was taken down by police within 2 hours of it being noticed!
