These sneakers, dubbed the Virgin Collection, debuted at Amsterdam's International Fashion week! These OAT sneakers are bio-degradable and can be planted in the ground to sprout trees. The materials used in the sneakers break down easily and there are seeds embedded in the design. The concept won second prize at the Green Fashion competition.
OAT Shoes was founded by designer Christiaan Maats. His mission is to help people connect with the environment in imaginative ways. His website reads:
“The future of fashion lies in a reconciliation between nature and industry. OAT Shoes strives to lead the way to that future.”I actually love the designs and knowing they are good for the environment has me ready to try them...although there is only a men's collection to date.
